6 BEST TINTED MOISTURISER BRANDS WITH SPF: FOR ALL SKIN TYPES.

Thinking of trying out tinted moisturiser for the summer? Why not, add some SPF while you're at it too.

For someone who is looking for a lightweight and effortless look then you are at the right place. Your goal is to find for the best-tinted moisturiser that will benefit your skin and at the same time make you look flawless. Now for some people who are just starting to play with makeup, I know it can be tricky to pick between tinted moisturiser and foundation.

Let's start with the basic makeup 101.

What is a Tinted Moisturiser?

Tinted moisturiser is a moisturising colored liquid cream makeup product for the face. The tinted moisturiser has a lightweight consistency that supposedly acts as your second skin. It provides the skin with instant hydration while adding a touch of pigment radiance and glow to the skin. Most of the brands have formulated good ingredients for improving skin restoration and SPF coverage for sun protection which is perfect for all skin types. Not only does it provides a smooth finish to cover any discoloration and skin pigmentation but it also acts as a treatment for the skin because of the vitamin properties in the ingredients. For those who prefer a naturally radiant and effortless look for the skin, this is for you.

What is the difference between Tinted Moisturiser and Foundation?

Tinted moisturiser, the name says it all. It's lightweight, breathable, and stays on leaving your face glowing and hydrated. Tinted moisturiser is more of every day "no makeup" kinda day whereas foundation is more towards "make a statement" kinda day. Foundation has a thicker and heavier consistency compared to a tinted moisturiser. So for those who are looking for full coverage and to achieve the perfect flawless finish, you know which one you are.

Here are 6 Best Tinted Moisturiser with SPF exclusively picked for you:

Bare Minerals Complexion Natural

Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel

Cream SPF 30

AU$53

A good sheer tinted moisturiser. It does not give full coverage on the first application but it can be buildable if you need to conceal tough spots on a certain area. Best to apply using your hands for a thorough application rather than a brush, it will tend to get patchy and does not leave a smooth finish on the face. It does give a sheer finish that gives a radiant look on the face. The reason I love this product is that it is lightweight and it feels like you have nothing on.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better

CC+ Cream SPF 50

AU$63

If you are looking for full coverage, this is the one for you. It gives a matte finish, with perfect and smooth coverage even on the dark circle on the first application. It is buildable but I am telling you that it is unnecessary because you can conceal what you need in just one application. It does feel like you have something on your face compared to Bare Minerals because of the full coverage. It provides hydration to your skin so you do not feel dry especially during winter. By far, one of my favorite tinted moisturiser, I have been living on this product for the longest time.

Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser

SPF 30

AU$72

This product says it all. It gives a perfect radiance to your skin in the right areas and does not leave any oily residues. It is lightweight and feels really light and nourished on your skin. It gives really good coverage quite similar to IT Cosmetics. It is best to apply with hands so you can focus on certain areas on your face to give a smooth finish and it can be buildable especially around the dark circles. The best part of tinted moisturiser is even though it is buildable, you can never notice cracks on your face compared to foundation.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Skin Protector

Just found out Meghan Markle uses this exact product for her face as part of her makeup routine so we know we are in good hands. Laura Mercier has reformulated their tinted moisture ranges and now it is their newest collection. It has around 20 shades perfect to fit any skin color. This is one of my top tinted moisturiser. It is so lightweight and feels nothing on the skin and glides so easily during application. It gives the dewy finish, that I love and it does not look too overwhelming either. It is perfect for summer and on a beautiful day out where you just want to go light on your face.

Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Tinted Moisturiser

SPF 15

AU$75

This is an ultra-light tinted moisturiser. It gives a really plush look but does not cover dark spots or dark circles easily, you need a separate concealer for those dark spots. It feels like a moisturiser with a hint of color that gives a flawless finish on the face. I love how this product settles on the face to give an even complexion. This is best for those who want something really light on the skin and still look fresh.

What are the main ingredients to look for in a Tinted Moisturiser?

Vitamin C - We all know Vitamin C is an important vitamin that is very much needed in your skincare routine. There is never too much Vitamin C. It has antioxidant properties that help regenerate and restore skin cells and enhance skin radiance. So yes, we need Mr. Vit C in our life and all the radiance to even beat the streetlights!

Vitamin E- This is a must-have superfood for the skin!! It has a moisturising and healing benefit that helps reduce inflammation, redness, and discoloration on the skin. It is a treatment used to strengthen the skin barrier from the outside and aids the skin from pollution. Mr. Vit E is a savior for our skin.

Hyaluronic Acid- This is a very common mineral in every skincare product that we noticed. Hyaluronic Acid does not only provides hydration but also helps to increased skin cell production such as lighten acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and dark spots. It is a good ingredient that does not cause harm to the skin rather it is a treatment to preserve the skin nourishment.

Vitamin A & B - These two vitamins coincide with each other in terms of the benefits. Vitamin A helps to speed up the healing process, prevent breakouts and provide hydration to give the radiance the skin needs whereas, for Vitamin B3 & B5, it acts as collagen for the skin elasticity and firmness leaving the skin feeling smooth and soft. It also helps stimulate the healing process for facial acne too - for those with acne-prone skin, you are not forgotten!

SPF - I am sure everyone is familiar with Titanium Dioxide which is in almost every skincare and makeup products. Titanium Dioxide is an active ingredient that helps block the skin from absorbing the UV from the sun that can cause sunburns and skin cancer. The recommended SPF application should be above 15, but sunscreen is never enough! I would advise always apply extra sunscreen on its own before applying tinted moisturiser even though it comes with SPF. One of the dermatologists I interviewed recommends a 1/4 teaspoon size (pea-sized) for sunscreen on the face and 1/2 teaspoon (dime-sized) for the face and neck.

Why is Tinted Moisturiser trending?

Tinted Moisturiser is the next trend in the makeup industry. Many brands are focusing on creating new and better formulas for their makeup products to keep up with the market demands. Tinted Moisturiser is one of the products that became really popular with celebrities to achieve the "no makeup" look. Big stars such as Kim Kardashian and Meghan Markle are committed to tinted moisturiser in their makeup routine for the effortless natural glow finish. Mainly because tinted moisturiser comes with many benefits in terms of contributing excellent vitamin properties that our skin needs, SPF, and good coverage enough to conceal any discoloration on our skin - what more can we ask for! Definitely a plus point for easy application and to remove as well especially after a long day and it causes no harm to the skin because of the good elements. Too many bonus points to not give it a try!

Summary for the day.

Even if you are a makeup artist or someone who is new to the makeup world, it is a must to own a Tinted Moisturiser. Tinted moisturiser can be versatile when you are going for nude makeup or even a bold eye look with a lightweight-based. The brands I recommended can really benefit your skin because of its active ingredients that are good for the skin and it's worth the price you pay for. It is a good investment to splurge on reliable brands that you can trust on your skin. Again, I have to emphasize good skincare products will definitely show on your face. Start from the basics and work your way to find the one that suits you. Even though, these tinted moisturisers do have SPF but please do not neglect to apply separate sunscreen for extra protection against the sun.
